
OPEN HOUSE and the THUSANANGA PROJECT
The Thusananga project (which means "helping all" in Sethoto) is a non-profit charity in South Africa that helps people affected or infected with HIV. With limited financial means they have built an orphanage for AIDS orphans in the region, and they offer practical help to the community:
Free HIV medications as part of the Treatment Action Campaign HIV Treatment Project in South Africa
Free health care for HIV positive patients and their families
Palliative care for the terminally ill
Promote knowledge of HIV via workshops in farms, schools, clinics and prisons
Practical support such as food, blankets, coal fro the Winter, wheelchairs etc.
Advice regarding social security
Legal aspects (preserving human rights for HIV positive individuals)
Support and workshops for those on HIV medication
Education grants for local healthcare workers


THUSANANGA PROJECT- how can you help? 50 euros - pays for the education of a child for a whole year or a grant to a volunteer for a month, or food for 12 orphan children for a week
33 euros pays an HIV workshop
5 euros pays a pair of shoes or school books for a child for a whole term
Open House was in the street during the Pride of 2007 and thanks to your efforts we raised more than 300 euros in lose change..
